- For anyone planning on using an alternative to established measures (such
- as DDLI instead of MBTI): WARNING!
-
- While modifications to established measures are sometimes warranted,
- beware of using them in any important work such as Thesis or Dissertation.
- They need to be validated with the results of the validation published as
- a Thesis or in a peer reviewed journal. If validation is not available
- you will need to do the validation yourself (lots of work). This is very
- important because many psychological constructs are difficult to measure
- reliably. Minor alterations in procedures or questions may well erase or
- change what is measured. You may think you are measuring extraversion
- when you are actually measuring gregariousness. Both may be useful
- measures but you need to be sure which you are measuring.
